Yakuza Moon ヤクザな月

I have just finished reading Yakuza Moon yesterday.
This book created quite a stir in the Japanese society, congested by a contradiction of traditional system of values, morals, conservatism, high level of masculinity and hierarchy but contrary to that, openess and the urge to satisfy the sexual thirst and fantasies of men still prevails in today's Japan.
I have always felt that the increasing societal problems in Japan have been the result of these contradictions. The massive Adult Video(AV)pornography industry which have lured millions and billions of young girls into, with the promise of fame and some may say, the root of all evils, money.Countless perverted killings of girls and children shocked the nation and the quite recent Akihabara massacre has also send a warning of the underlying problems rooted in the society. Some may attribute the Akihabara killngs to the violence tapped into minds of people from video games.
Anyway, this book is another representation of the contradictions in Japan.
First of all, kudos to the author, Tendo Shoko san, for coming forward to pen this book which consists of numerous topics that women in Japan should never be allowed to voice out and besides, she will be digging out the hidden underworld of Yazuka.
The book is based on her memoirs as a Yakuza boss's daughter and the hardships that she have endured throughout her childhoood and teenagehood. Even after she has stepped into the world of adulthood, life did not prove to be a breeze for her.
Her drug addictions, sex life and affairs with married men and yakuzas, the physical and mental assaults that she received from men, the financial troubles she went through, the love that she was never be able to hold on to, the unwanted pregnancies and abortions, her meeting with the God of Death, the passing ons of her loved ones, the maturity of her mind throughout the years, her flamboyant body tatoo which stretches all the way from her neck to her feet which tells a hundred stories about her life,....everything is written in this book.

She is a strong woman in her own way. She now lives in Tokyo as a single parent and working as a freelance writer.
